I am Bram Felix,

a musician and composer living in Ghent, Belgium.

Everybody likes it when his body moves from joy. Music makes that happen.

Everybody wants to feel a connection with other people. Music can make that happen.

Everybody can use a place to explore feelings. Music is such a place.

For me, music is all that and much, much more. That’s why I want to play music, make music and share it.

As a live musician I play windinstruments and percussion.

I started playing recorder and flute. Feeling limited in the genres I could play with those instruments, I quickly added others. First came percussion with objects like pots and pans and a self invented waterflute. Later came saxophone, clarinet, chimes, lots of other percussion, … Many groups I played with had a strong connection with theater. The genres I like to explore (and more so what happens between them) are world music (especially African music), blues, folk, pop, filmmusic … I accompagnied African dance lessons with sax and percussion for some years

I SEE MUSIC AS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE SO I DON’T LIKE BEING LOCKED IN ONE GENRE.

Besides groups, I make compositions for animation film, short movies, theater, … I am always curious about what happens when music blends with other media. As a composer, I want to explore many different emotional landscapes. A recent purchase, the fingerboard continuum, is a great instrument to do that. It’s a versatile and expressive electronic instrument.

I am part of projects that brings live music outside the frame of a stage.

As a musician for VZW musIC I bring live music in hospitals. Recently I did a Try-out around giving solace through words and music in places created for people in grief or who just want to escape the hastily society for a moment. Weekly I play the musical intro to a meditation session.

This is my way to bring live music for people who are in a situation where they can’t go to concerts or don’t like crowds.
